well looks like Alfie will be having most of his head shaved later today at the vets , earlier in the summer Alfie & a few of the other dogs in our area ended up with some very funny looking lumps/spots mostly on their heads but we found them on Alfie's body with him having hair , we thought it might have been a chemical the farmer used on his fields but we a ended up at the vets as they get quite sore looking

Anyway over the past couple of weeks iv seen Alfie's head get really lumpy , we have kept them clean with salt water , put cream on them we have from the vets but more seem to be coming up by the day so best get him checked out proper now we think as a few are starting to look a little sore . Will let you all know later how he go,s

Hi Martin what crop did the dogs run through?

Did the vet give Alfie any anti histamine meds or steriod injection?

Keep us posted xx

Hi All,

Sorry it's took a while had a problem with photobucket.

The vet said it is a skin infection from now on we have to use a medicated shampoo bought from the vets.  He has been given 2 weeks of antibiotics, Steroid Cream and needs to bathed 2 a week for the next 2 weeks with the medicated shampoo.

They tried to shave the worst area on his head but it was too full of scabs to shave it.  She did say that this could be an ongoing skin condition he could be prone to for life or he could be having an allergic reaction to a bite from his walks once it is cleared up she said if it happens again she will run some allergy tests etc on him.

This infection came on in just over a week and I am surprised how aggressive it looked in that short a time.

Thanks for your concern everyone I will keep you posted on his progress.
