Diesel at vets again Empty
PostSubject: Diesel at vets again   Diesel at vets again EmptyMon 28 Jun 2010, 6:59 pm

Took Diesel to the vets today for x-rays as he is limping again , although we were pretty sure it wasnt his shoulder this time. He is fine during exercise but stiff after lying down then getting up again.

He now has a problem with one of the bones in his forelimb (same leg as previous muscle injury) there is a bone abnormality, showing on the x rays so we are taking the x-rays up to the vet school for the orthopaedic surgeon to have a look at tomorrow.

Poor wee soul is not happy hes still a bit dopey and his legs sore now after being prodded at the vets.

Has anyone had bone abnormalities in their dogs before?

How awful for Diesel and you. We have not had any abnormalities like that although Chloe has a calcium growth on her spine which on occasion catches on a nerve but we have not taken the risk of the op.

I do hope it is nothing too serious and can be managed. Please let us know how you get on

Will do, I am just hoping the surgeon will contact either us or the vets tomorrow so we know whats going on failing that could have a couple of weeks wait to even get an appointment at the vet school.

It looks like a small crack to me but obviously im no expert, and it seems odd because hes fine after flyball, but not fine after running around playing fetch.

Awww poor Diesel - no doubt you are anxious and worried about your boy - I really can't give any advice and wuold probably be wrong to do so as I would imagine each injury etc would differ from another.

Please keep us informed on Diesel consulation - and big hugs to you as I know you are worried xx

Diesel at vets again SS851613

These are pictures of the xrays im not sure whether youl be able to see, on the first picture its about an inch and a half from the bones splitting on the bone on the left,

You can see it if you look closely, but then again i know where to look.

He was x-rayed last August but that was with the shoulder injury, although we checked them at vets today and theres no trace of this injury on the old xrays.

This has been fairly recent, on and off for the past few weeks.
Unsure of the treatment depends on what the surgeon says although technically we dont have an appointment its the same vet we dealt with before so i just hope hes good enough to let us know what he thinks tomorrow.

Can you see the line? xx

Going mad now, haven't heard anything.
Tried phoning my own vet but shes in a consultation so she's going to phone back, but surely if she'd heard from the surgeon i would know by now.

Nope the saga goes on,

When i took the xrays to the vet school they were marked for the attention of Damian who was there but busy.
Now Damians on holiday till next week and they are unsure where the xrays are, probably in his dookit.

Im really not happy but theres not an awful lot i can do, i have asked my vet to try and get the xrays looked at by another specialist but shes seems to think we should wait for Damian.

My own vet thinks its a stress fracture, as do I so im not happy its going to be left for a week, we still have metacam which i am giving him
