PostSubject: Terrified.   Terrified. EmptyFri 20 Nov 2009, 3:04 pm

I had the most horrendous experience today when I was out walking the dogs, we pulled up at a different spot to normal and got them both out both on leads and started to walk towards the fields and river, I saw a couple with a young staffie walking the same way they saw us and approached their dog was also on the lead, before they got to us i asked how old their dog was they said 7 months I warned them that daisy doesnt like puppies so we slowly let them sniff.

Daisy was fine not a growl all happy and licky with the other dog i was very proud of her, the other dog decided he wanted to say hello to me and jumped up at me which i don't mind but daisy went into full attack mode, the other dog grabbed her foot and bit it the leads where by now tangled and the dog let go of her foot and grabbed her throat i was terrified that he was going to do serious damage, little did i know but eddi had got hold of the back end of the other dog only when we seperated them did they tell me that as soon as daisy was free eddi let go or so they tell me.

The dog didn't do any major damage to her throat only scratched her really thank god but her little foot was pouring blood, i didnt race to the vet like i have done before I took her home bathed it in salt water and I will keep an eye on it. The couple were so sorry and kept apologizing I told them it wasnt there fault it just happened.

That is not something I wish to go through ever again, as far as her hatred for puppies goes i am at my wits end on what to do with her. Here is a picture of her foot.

Awwww poor baby, she was only protecting you. She must have thought the other dog was attacking you when he jumped up for a fuss. I have no idea how to get passed this perhaps mattie can help you there. Glad you all ok and the other dog too. Big kiss and cuddle for Daisy and Eddi (he was good to let go as soon as his sis was ok!)

i think you avatar says it all though, the way he is cuddling her, its so obvious he loves her and possibly as much as you do too. Hope Mattie or someone is able to help you with her fear of puppies.

Thats awful and very scary for you bet you are still wobbling.

Eddi one assumes was, like Mandy said, just trying to protect.

I think, as with Boris foster dog, instead of letting them go ahead and meet like that you will have to say for the time being that Daisy does not get on with other pups and only allow a meet in a controlled environment with experienced people. Boris is fine with people he knows no matter what dog they bring out for him, yet seeing a strange person and a strange dog he is so not sure and therefore, I don't mix for the time being.

Hope you guys are all ok although I bet it gave you all a big shock ((hugs)) to you all

I would definately keep an eye on that hun you dont know if the other dog was vaccinated or not I always keep some vet wound powder in the house just in case of anything like this its for minor cuts, bites etc

thing is you dont know what the dog has been eating or anything and this could get into skin and cause and infection so yes definately keep an eye on it hun and keep it nice and clean

I hear what you are saying sandi and i will have to do that, both were on leads and i let daisy on the lead just say hello and there was no aggression at all so i presumed (wrongly) that all was ok.

If we come across puppies daisy will just have to stay away from them, eddi once it was all over was fine and played with the other puppy while i checked daisy out.

She is never like that with adult dogs no matter what the size she will approach them lay on her back and be very submissive with puppies there is no submission at all its pure attack, mattie i really need help with her I don't know what to do, ok maybe i do keep her away from puppies but i'm scared the older she gets she will continue to be scared angry with puppies so ideally i would like to sort it out.

Allison what is vets powder? He was fully vaccinated they told me they were not just a chav couple they looked respectable and they were so sorry that their boy had done that. I completely submerged her foot in salt water and i will continue to do that if i see any change for the worse i will take her to the vet.
